WiFi File Explorer
WiFi File Explorer is a Droid utility that lets you browse your the contents of your Droid and SD card without needing to use cables, or to remove the SD card. With this Droid app you can browse your Droid’s SD card from a computer via a browser and a Wi-Fi connection. Like all apps of this nature, your computer and Droid need to be on the same Wi-Fi network for this to work. Once they are both on the same Wi-Fi network, just run this app on your Droid and note the address displayed in the app. Load this address in your computer’s browser, and you can interact with the contents of the SD card.
The app’s interface is obviously not very important, since it just needs to sit there and serve the content for your computer’s browser to access and upload files. There’s currently no option to show thumbnails of images, you see image files just like any other file on the SD card. It’s also a little challenging for novice users who aren’t very familiar with using IP addresses and port numbers on their browsers. For relatively sophisticated users and those willing to experiment a little, this app will save them the hassle of removing the SD card or coupling the Droid to the computer via a cable.
