Power Manager
Power Manager for Android and the Droid series is a powerful utility that you can use to manage the battery life of your Droid. Basically, the app lets you configure various settings that impact the various aspects of your phone that use the most power. For example, you can change the screen timeout interval to go out quicker than the default. You can also configure it so that the Droid behaves differently when the battery is low.
All of this is done by creating profiles for various states of the battery. The app comes with some pre-configured ones that will take you a long way by themselves, or you can create your own versions. Profiles can ask the app to turn off the GPS or Wi-Fi and change the ringer volume to save power. A wealth of settings are available and overall the app can make a significant change in how long you can use your Droid.
