Google Goggles
Google Goggles is a visual search engine developed officially by Google for the Droid and Android. It lets you snap a photograph of a menu, logo, or any object and presents search results based on its interpretation of the object. So if you pull up Goggles and snap a photo of a Coke can, Goggles will show results related to Coke. It works surprisingly well for most common objects.
It works for major landmarks, book jackets, business cards, art, wine labels, and as mentioned earlier, logos. Taking a snap of a book jacket, for example, will return details about the book, including the Amazon link, author, and publisher information. You can even compare prices with a single click across multiple retailers. The app is still rough around the edges, and sensitive to lighting and contrast for now. But Google Goggles is a fantastic novelty app that gives us a lot to look forward to on the Droid.
