. The Astro File Manager app for the Droid smartphone is a powerful file explorer utility. You can view all the files on your Droid and SD card, and even transfer files between the two. Astro lets you add songs to playlists, send attachments, open and read zipped files, and also adds local application backup and restore to its wealth of features. The search function searches through the contents of files in addition to just the filename.
The app is very functional, but the interface looks ghastly with a range of odd color combinations, gratuitous effects, and very plain icons that make it difficult to read the information presented. The large number of features under the hood more than makes up for this though, and you’ll soon find that the interface doesn’t throw up any surprises and works quite well if you can overlook the most obvious problems. With uniformly positive reviews on the Market and no force-close issues at all, this is a great file manager app for your Droid.
