Zagat nru
. Zagat nru (”Near You”) is a restaurant directory application for the Droid. It features an interesting “compass” interface that lets you point your Droid in different directions, and the app will pull up restaurants and cafes in that direction close to your current location. The restaurant list is not exhaustive, but any business in the Zagat list will show up, and that’s often good enough. The compass view shows a bird’s-eye view of the restaurants, businesses, and shopping areas around you in a circle. Each dot is located based on how close the location is to you.
The other view is engaged by holding the Droid horizontally and bringing it up to eye-level. The app then shifts to a new view that only shows restaurants that are in the direction your smartphone is pointing towards. This is quite gimmicky and doesn’t really show you any new information over and above the compass view. The Zagat nru app is an interesting restaurant and directory application for the Droid.
